After a 2017 that will be remembered for a number of reasons, we want to share with you one of our highlights of the year – our charitable giving. One of the most vibrant Confluence discussions we have annually is on our Charitable Donations page, where the Comalatech team comes together to discuss which causes we will support during the year. As big supporters of the Pledge 1% initiative, we are committed to giving back to the communities we call home, and getting our team involved in the process is an important part of our yearly tradition.
Included in our giving this past year were a number of charities we’ve supported before, including Amnesty International, the David Suzuki Foundation, and Médicos Sin Fronteras. We also chose to add some new causes as well, including Mercy Ships, La Cocina Económica, and Walk On Project.
We donated to twenty different charities in 2017, the most we’ve ever been able to support in a single year. We’re proud to say that with the addition of our giving this year we’ve now donated over $150,000 to charity during our 10 years in business.
We’re Committed to Pledge 1%
At the end of 2015, Comalatech followed the lead of tech companies like Atlassian, Sales Force, and CA Technologies to make a vow regarding our corporate giving – we committed ourselves to Pledge 1%. For our objective we chose to pledge 1% of our profits to charity. We are such big believers in this movement that we are once again committing to Pledge 1% in 2018, and we would encourage other business in our space to do the same.
As 2018 dawns we’re excited to grow Comalatech even larger, each new team member bringing with them a fresh perspective and background. But, no matter who joins our team they will be sure to share our corporate values, including a commitment to giving back to our communities. We can’t wait to see which new causes we’re going to support next year.
